Inclusion Criteria: * ASA I to III * undergoing surgery amenable to spinal anaesthesia Exclusion Criteria: * Patient refusal * contraindications to regional anaesthesia * known allergy to local anaesthetics * bleeding diathesis * inability to provide informed consent
