The main purpose of this research is to test the validity and reliability of the "Exercise Health Beliefs Attitude Scale" (EYSİTÖ), developed by Caz, Paktaş and Yazıcı (2023) for adult individuals, in geriatric individuals aged 65 and over.
Testing whether the EYSITÖ (Emotional Belief-Behavior Scale) provides accurate and consistent results in the geriatric group is a scientific necessity. This study aims to address the lack of a suitable measurement tool in this field by revealing the psychometric properties of the EYSITÖ for geriatric individuals. Furthermore, examining the correlation between the scores obtained from the scale and the results of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), an internationally accepted objective measurement tool, will contribute to the criterion-related validity of the study and allow for a clearer understanding of the belief-behavior relationship in the elderly.
Study Type
OBSERVATIONAL
Enrollment
200
Data will be collected by researchers using a face-to-face interview technique with participants. To minimize potential difficulties in reading comprehension for geriatric individuals, the survey questions will be read aloud by the researcher, and the participant's answers will be marked on the form. Each interview is expected to last approximately 15-20 minutes. Before data collection, participants will be informed of the purpose of the research, and the "Informed Consent Form" will be read and signed.

Exercise-Related Health Beliefs Attitude Scale (ERHSTS):
Developed by Caz, Paktaş, and Yazıcı (2023), this scale will be used to determine individuals' health beliefs regarding exercise. The scale consists of 3 sub-dimensions and a total of 20 items: "Health Promotion" (7 items), "Cognitive Health" (7 items), and "Continuity" (6 items). Rated on a 7-point Likert scale (1=Strongly Disagree ... 7=Strongly Agree), an increase in the score indicates an increase in positive attitudes and beliefs towards exercise. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient for the original form of the scale was found to be 0.94.
Time frame: 1 weeks
International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) - Short Form:
This questionnaire will be used to determine participants' physical activity levels and examine its correlation (criterion-related validity) with the EYSİTÖ (Emotional Activity Test). The questionnaire inquires about vigorous activity, moderate activity, walking, and sitting times within the last 7 days. The data obtained are scored using the MET (Metabolic Equivalent) calculation, and individuals are classified as "Inactive," "Minimally Active," and "Very Active." (You can add the Turkish validity reference of the IPAQ you used here, e.g., Sağlam et al., 2010).
Time frame: 1 day
