Standardized pre- and postoperative information will be provided by Avatar-assisted or nurse-led following surgical removal of an mandibular third molar

Eligibility

Sex: ALLMin age: 18 YearsMax age: 80 YearsHealthy volunteers:

Inclusion Criteria: * A partially or totally impacted mandibular third molar. * Indication for surgical removal of a mandibular third molar. * Age between 18-80. Exclusion Criteria: * Previous surgical removal of mandibular third molar. * Indication for other surgical interventions within the oral cavity including upper third molar removal in conjunction with surgical removal of mandibular third molar. * Infection and inflammatory symptoms in the oral cavity at the time of surgical removal of mandibular third molar. * Medication with antiresorptive agents or daily analgesics. * ASA score 3 or above. * Reduced bone healing capacity due to severe anemia, hypothyroidism, or poor nutrition. * Previous radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. * Psychological disease.

Primary Outcomes

Confidence with the pre- and post-operative information

Confidence with the pre- and post-operative information following surgical removal of an mandibular third molar was assessed by a 7-item questionnaire. Response format was yes/no or by visuel analoque scale (0 = not satisfied to 100 = extremely satisfied).

Time frame: 1. prior to surgical removal of a mandibular third molar

Confidence with the pre- and post-operative information

Confidence with the pre- and post-operative information with the pre- and postoperative information will be assessed by validated questionnaire

Time frame: Confidence with the pre- and post-operative information will be assessed prior to and immediately after surgical removal of an mandibular third molar
