This study evaluates the effects of kinesio taping applied to the quadriceps femoris on delayed-onset muscle soreness, lower-extremity range of motion, and explosive jump performance following a fatiguing exercise protocol in healthy sedentary males.
Participants undergo a fatiguing sit-to-stand exercise protocol to induce exercise-induced muscle damage. Using a controlled crossover design with repeated measurements, participants complete both a kinesio taping (KT) condition and a non-taping (N-KT) control condition, separated by a 96-hour washout period. Measurements including subjective muscle soreness, active range of motion of the hip, knee, and ankle joints, thigh circumference, and squat jump performance are evaluated at baseline, 24, 48, and 72 hours post-exercise.

Delayed-Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS)
Assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), where scores range from 0 (no pain) to 10 (very severe pain).
Time frame: Baseline (0 hour), 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours post-exercise
Squat Jump Performance
Assessed using a digital contact mat system to measure explosive jump height in centimeters.
Time frame: Baseline (0 hour), 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours post-exercise
Joint Range of Motion (ROM)
Active range of motion of hip, knee, and ankle joints measured in degrees using a universal goniometer.
Time frame: Baseline (0 hour), 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours post-exercise
Thigh Circumference
Measured in centimeters at the marked anatomical landmark (15 cm proximal to the superior border of the patella) to track tissue edema.
Time frame: Baseline (0 hour), 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours post-exercise
